Entering its fifth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, a time when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates the gift of time, talents and treasures.
The Yosemite Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals wants to encourage all of our member organizations to participate in this world wide day of giving in a way that is meaningful and easy for your organization! Plus, it has the added benefit of helping us continue our mission to create a culture of philanthropy in our counties.
Here are some easy first steps to become acquainted with the idea of participating:
- Check out the #GivingTuesday website! There you will find logos, social media toolkits, templates and FAQs!
- Check out a sample timeline, press release, and strategic plan from our friends at the Center for Human Services.
- Use the Giving Tuesday sample timeline or the Center For Human Services sample timeline (insert hyperlink) to identify how much time and energy you want to invest in this. Remember, you can participate in a way that works best for your organization so get creative!
- Want some help or need a sounding board? Our chapter has two members who are more than willing to help you!
